    Default School auction donation rod

    Hi all,

Here's a rod I built from my daughters' school auction this weekend. Now that I've built up my own rod collection seems I'm only building rods for donation.

It's another Proof Fly Fishing Vapor blank, a joy to cast with a 3 or 4wt line. I love how it lights up in the sun!

Blank: white fiberglass 7' 3wt 3 piece Vapor
Guides: black nickel snake brand guides
Grip: torpedo shaped cork grip from Proof
Seat: downlocking "Garrison style" hardware with a burl insert and antique gold finish from Proof.
Thread: Blue Dun with no color preserver.

What a very nice looking rod, and I really like the color of the wraps. I hope it does well, and it should, at your daughters school auction.

Amazing craftsmanship. How did you ever get started building rods in the first place?

My friend who got me into fishing built rods - first fishing, then tying, then building. Honestly I think a lot of fly tying is harder than rod building. Need to learn some different skills, but not as hard as tying a #18 parachute adams.
