Default rod building books and DVD's

Hey everybody,

I read in a different post and i think it was rip tide who said any one who can tie a fly can make a fly rod and i thought i always wanted to make a fly rod so i thought i would give it a try.

I got in touch with somebody i knew who made them and i got all my materials and general things figured out and a cheap blank to try to make my first one and he got me all squared away.

My problem is he lives quite a far ways away and i cant keep bugging him whenever i need help or insructions so i thought a book or DVD would be a good investment for help and i was wondering if anybody has any good book or DVD suggestions.

If i get really stuck i'll just come bug you guys, thanks.

Thumbs up Re: rod building books and DVD's

You are starting at the right age, good for you! It isn't difficult; if you get stuck
just walk away & think about the process for awhile. Return to the project when you have decided what is the most logical way to proceed. After the satisfaction of completing your first rod & catching fish with it, I think you will
find the long time reward is learning more about rod design & construction. Of
course a little help from a video etc is a good thing, lot of info on the internet. Good luck & above all, enjoy yourself.

Try this for starters; Rodbuilding.org :: rodboard
