Smile L-Tech fly line choice?

I've owned a 9' 4wt Cabela's L-Tech rod for about 5 months now. I've been using Wonderline 5wt (the rod is a 4 wt) until I can purchase new line. I can now afford to buy the right line for the rod.

I fish small to medium streams for trout. I throw midges, san juan worms, soft hackles and crackle backs. I have a fly shop that is about 1 1/2 hours away that will let me cast various lines to determine which one to buy.

What recommendation do you have for a new floating line for my L-tech rod?

Default Re: L-Tech fly line choice?

I have no idea who makes the L-Tech rod, and I am too lazy to look it up. I'd choose the line based off of the rod's action.

General purpose medium to medium fast action:
SA Mastery Trout, Rio Gold

General purpose fast action:
SA Mastery GPX, Rio Grand

The L-Tech is sold by Cabela's under their name. Not sure who makes it for them. The action is medium-fast.

Default Re: L-Tech fly line choice?

A friend fished SA XPS on his L Tech and seems very suited to the action of the rod.
