Default Cabelas Genesis?

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/te...457&hasJS=true

umm so i got that a few years ago when i first started out it was an 8wt and i soon discovered that its a wee bit big for trout..haha i mean overkill for trout but anyways if i upgraded the reel to something a little bit nicer do you think it would hold up to bass, maybe 20 to 26 inch walleye and/or an idaho steelie?

i think it should do ok but idk wish i would have know about this forum when i first got it

Take a look at the Lamson Konic 3.5 reel. It has the same drag system as the Litespeed and ULA models. It is just a cast (then machined) reel with not so refined finish. It should set you back $139.

That rod will be fine for bass. Honestly, i dont think you even need to upgrade the reel. I would take it as is and fish! Replace as needed! I have taken bass with 3 weight on drys with no problems.

sorry im replying so long after you but i recently got an offer to go steel heading with a few friends but i dont have the money for a nice reel and rod. so do you think that this pole will hold up to steelies?? and the reel is what scares me most these big idaho steel can fight so ive heard so i dont want it dying on me during the day
