    Default redington 9' 8 wt cpx v. scott 9' 8 wt a3

I recently broke my 8 wt rod and am looking at one of these. Both appear to be in the same price range.
    Does anyone have a recommendation?
    Thanks,
    barham

I love my a3, but it is a 4 weight dry fly rod. Even if all other things compare equally between the two, the Scott is Made in Colorado, Redington CHINA.

I could fish with an A3 10' 7wt and a CPX 9'6 5 wt and liked them both...both customer services are reliable too.Like ausablebrown said the A3 is made in the US...

The two rods have completely different personalities. The CPX is an ultra fast rod. The A3 is medium fast. The rod that you will want will have the action that fits the way that you want it to cast.

    What is your intended usage?

Thank all of you for your help. How does the scott a3 compare to a st croix imperial in the same weight and length?
    Thanks,

The Imperial will have a faster action then the A3, but the A3 will be more forgiving...and is a huge step up in quality. Check your pm's as i have a brand new A2 9' 8wt for sale dirt cheap.

that is ridiculous! redington is great gear. basing an opinion on quality from where an item is manufactured is just stupid

    • unless you've been burned too many times on stuff made in China.
    • or unless you care a little bit about what they do to OUR environment.
    • or unless human rights is something you care about.
    • unless you had to tear parts of a house down to replace dangerous drywall
    • unless you had 'quality', name brand toys recalled because of heavy lead content
    • unless you are sick and tired of friends or family losing jobs to the cheap slave labor of China
It's my choice for whatever reasons I chose if I or anyone else for that matter makes buying decisions with place of manufacture taken into consideration. To think otherwise 'is just stupid'.
