    Default Echo Ion 9' 7 Weight Fly Rod

    Hi I'm thinking of getting a Echo Ion 9' 7 Weight Fly Rod for fishing the beach for snook and redfish and the grass flats for trout would this rod be OK or should get something a little heaver or input on this rod would great thanks

    An 8wt really is the best option for light saltwater, especially due to wind. It will also offer a bit more power to turn fish away from obstructions that produce breakoffs. A 9wt might be a better option for snook specifically, but an 8wt is always the #1 general purpose/starter saltwater rod.
