By adding ferrules, you will hose the action on the rod. Put it in the closet, make it the backup or pass it down to the next generation (my preference!) and tell the recipient the story of how you made and fished it. If the recipient becomes enamored with fly fishing, then help build a rod with him/her that suits his/her casting likings. You will create a fantastic legacy!
