    They used to get their midpriced rods from Diamondback and their better ones from Loomis, but now it's all from Asia.

    They are trying to position their high-end (for them) Silver Ghost models as a value-priced competitor to other manufacturers' best offerings, but I am not persuaded. I test cast their Silver Ghost 9' 5 wt against a Sage Z Axis and Sage ZLX a few years ago, and I thought the Sages were both more accurate and more sensitive.

    I have an LL Bean 10-weight from the mid 1990's that was built to their design specs by G.Loomis and it is a terrific and handsome fly rod. I suspected a Chinese origin of the current crop though.
