Default Re: Sage XP question

I own an 9ft 5wt xp 2 pc that I bought new in 2003,it has the grey tube with green lettering on it.I also have their catalogs dating back to 2003,and I am guessing the xp came out about 2001.

I looked in the catalogs and saw it in 2006 but not in the 2007 catalog.

Default Re: Sage XP question

The legendary sage XP and the new sage VXP are almost the same blank, some subtle changes in materials but the taper is so damn close. My brother in law fishes a 9' 5wt xp and I fish a 9' 5wt. vxp. We have compared these rods extensively on the water and niether of us can tell a significant difference in taper, only the physical weight seems to be the main difference. Also, we have found the vxp to be a bit smoother casting with a little less vibration. If the xp is a rod your dying to get your hands on, I challenge you to go cast a sage VXP, you wont be disapointed its a fine fishing tool and has superb craftsmanship with a sexy green blank and wood insert.
