Default thinking to venture to the ultralight rod category

toying with the idea of getting a 1wt.

There a nice creek near me i usually fish with a 3wt, but thinking about it really seems like the 3 wt is over kill.
The fish are small, and i can spit across the creek (literally)

So, if i'm after a recommendation for a nice 1wt.

High end (Orvis superfine) at an extreme push. Im on a budget, so i'd like something in $100-$150 range.

    Thoughts??

If you want to go really small, there's the TFO Finesse Half Weight - 5', $160. This is, from my measurement, a 1 wt.

St Croix has the Imperial 6' 2 wt, $170. However, in one of the shootouts and by my own measurement this is really a 1 wt rod.

    I have both.

The TFO has slip rings for the reel holder. The St Croix has screw type.

Weights - TFO 1.3 oz; Imperial 1.8 oz.

Both work well with 1 wt line.

I think you will really enjoy a 1wt on small streams and I think the idea of the TFO Finesse is a good option. They occasionally pop up on Ebay in your price range. I have a Sage TXL 1wt that I love but I only bought it because I found a smoking deal a couple years ago. It's a bit long at 7'10" for some really small streams but it's a blast to fish with.

The finesse can be had in either 6'9" 1 wt or 7'3" 2wt.

I recently bought a 2 wt. Echo Carbon 7'-3" and it is a shockingly good rod!

I just picked up a 6'6" 1oz. superfine on ebay for a little over $200, it was an older model but it was new, sweet rod for the small stuff.
