    Default Baby bamboo project

I finally got a start on my HI Spinner project. The rod was a shameful mess. Some of the guides crazy glued and wrapped with thick sewing thread, bad varnish, etc. I got it stripped, and cleaned up, and discovered some broken fibers on the bottom section. Bummer. The good news is now I get what I wanted, but couldn't afford. Since this was a 9' three piece, it will be reincarnated into a 6' two piece.
It feels like there's enough flex and enough backbone to actually work as a small stream rod.. I have a reel seat and cork on the way. If it doesn't work, it will look good on the wall when I'm with it.
The feurrels are good, but there is some play in the wood to metal fit. Does anyone know if these are attached with heat set fuerrel cement ? There is no cross pin, but I don't want to experiment with heat if someone here knows otherwise.
    All comments appreciated.Thanks !

You sure it isn't pinned? If done well the pins can be extremely hard to see. Many Bamboo builders use something like a Philobond (contact cement) to set the ferrules. Heat works with many of the cements, even epoxies. Just like with any other component removal too much heat is a bad thing, but Bamboo is a bit more forgiving. Lighter or alcohol burner will work well since it is a localized heat.

FYI: Bamboo is a grass, not a wood
