Regarding Cortland re-establishing Diamondback (in the US), Burk, to quote the Duke, "That'll be the day!" But I wish it could happen.

Burk, your historical input is called for in General Discussions on a Winston post regarding the origin of the term "Staff of Moses".

I never said anything about bringing them back in the US. When Randy Brown the current CEO of Cortland first came on, he rode with me in TN. At one dinner discussion we were talking about Diamondback and I suggested it would be cheaper to buy Winston than spend the marketing dollars it would take to bring back Diamondback. And that's probably true.

Even Hardy was a fairly tough sell with the Zenith and people at least identified Hardy product as high end. This is a tough market especially in the rod business, which is very saturated. And high end rod sales are flat, so any presentation to a dealer, he's left with which line do I drop to add your line?

Hello James,

I've read through the thread and see what you're after. For a tube you could deal with REC, here's their order site; Aluminum Rod Cases I have several tubes they produced and they are top notch. For a rod sock, they are pretty simple for someone with a sewing machine to turn one out for you and you can chose the material.

I don't know if you have any companies like REC over there but if not they will send you a tube over.

Ard

Ard, My understanding is the gentleman is seeking the original equipment tube with the D'Back stenciling on it and all. They were likely made by REC which had a relationship with Diamondback and were sort of neighbors in VT. For the record, Cortland sold the D'Back rod building equipment to a rod builder in PA named Mike McFarland who is now in a new partnership with a German two handed rod specialist building beautiful graphite and glass single and two handed rods. Seele Rod Co. is their name.

Thanks for that, I'll check it out

Yes, I know it's a long shot but if I could get Dback branded tube that would be ideal!
