If you like how it casts, it is a fine choice. The rod is versatile enough to fish both short and long distances. It has enough backbone to handle what Mr. Boney is willing to dish out.

One of my friends swears by it with the Rio Bonefish Quickshooter Max line.

I have both the 8 & 9 Methods. I would not recommend these rods unless you test them yourself. I find I need to over line them. So I feel they are a 9 & 10. I don't have this issue with Ones or the Salt. They are great distance casting rods. But I fish on the flats, and distance isn't the main criteria. You must have a quick, aggressive stroke in any case. They are light, accurate, and have a ton of power. But they are not for everyone.

Method is not for everyone, nor was it designed to be. I fish a Method#6 with a Gold 1/2 heavy #6 line. I have not fished the flats sizes but I have fished TCR and TCX's which are great flats rods and I'll bet Method is too if you have the stroke for it.

How do you compare your SALT to Method and what line do you fish on it?
