Ok, this is a long-shot, but I though I'd ask the peanut gallery just in case someone here can give me an informed opinion (uninformed opinions also welcome!).
I'm looking for a small-stream fly rod to fish small, brushy streams, of which we have an abundance here in Utah. I've settled on a 7.5' to 8.0' 4wt with a more moderate action than I typically fish. I'll likely use a DT line, although I'm open to using something else...Figuring a long cast would be 30 feet with this rig, I'm thinking Currant Creek or little brushy creeks coming out of the Deep Creek Range or the Wasatch Front.
Anyway, I was pretty close to moving on a 8' 4wt Superfine Carbon, but on the big auction site a 7.5' 4wt ZXL just came up for sale. Now, I already own a 486-4 ZXL, which is a great rod by any measure...one of my all-time favorites. so my questions is,
Would the 476-4 ZXL be too redundant and similar to the 486-4 ZXL? How do they compare? Are they basically the same except for 12" of length, or is the 476-4 a completely different animal compared to the 486-4?
