Cletus, the P4 really is an exceptional stick and I also really enjoy the 4710 that is why it is staying in the quiver but the P4 is such an unique rod in the short 4 class I always reach for it first. Roughly , I would place the TXLF closer to the P5 but shorter. The P4 I can't compare to anything I have ever tried. I've fished #26 dries on 7X at 25' to hoppers at 40' and landed some nice size trout on it without a hitch.

I'm not sure I'm ready for bamboo, but I have never casted or fished it, so I would be curious to play around with it a little. Oyster fly rods offers classes in building cane rods, where you walk out the door with a bamboo fly rod that you built. I've kind of had that in the back of my mind for when and if I decide to make the leap to that material. Carbon fiber is still king for me though, so for now, I'm pretty stoked to try the Dart. I've had enough people tell me though, that at 6'6", carbon fiber is out of its element. As a reformed spin fishermen (who still unapologetically falls off the wagon from time to time), I have fished a number of short ultralight, high modulus rods that would beg to differ. Still, if I'm going to drop that kind of coin, I owe it to myself to try some of the high end glass that is designed to compete in the same niche. I've always kind of admired Scott rods from a distance, and think the new F Series might be a good opportunity to actually get some hands on experience with them, while also measuring its qualities against the Dart's.
