But once in a while Schneider's will have a deal too good to pass up

I've gotten good, inexpensive blanks from Ye Olde English Fly shop.

My favorite site is Proof Fly Fishing. Blanks, hardware, tools, finishes etc you need. Snake Brand guides are worth paying a bit more for.

Hi, Yooper. I can't help with the shopping side of things but, if you're new-ish to rod building you might like to take a look at our European sister site, FFFUK. It, too, has a rod building forum and the guys there gave me much invaluable advice when I started building last year.

Proof fly fishing is good. Custom fly rod crafters. J Cook custom fly rods. I have ordered from all three with good results
