New to fly fishing - just bought a decent rod- need to know what I need to rig it. Confused about line, backing, leaders.... Does the backing go on the reel first?, tied to the line?..HELP. Hoping to get out soon...season just opened. Its a size 8 rod if this helps. Thanks in advance for your advice.

Yes the backing goeson, then the line and the your leader. Go to youtube and type in setting up a fly reel, I found a couple good videos that shows how
