Ebay by contacting someone selling a full kit with reel and asking if he has any rods without the reel and he said he has 2 kits with the reels, but will sell one or both if I want them without the reels for $78 for one and a little brake I don't remember exactly if I by both. I'm kind of wondering if I should buy both, but I have several others I want to buy or build, plus fly tying materials and guide trips.

Matter of fact I think soon I'll be calling a guide I know on the Trinity River to do some steelhead and sea run brown fishing.

Unfortunately I just discovered that this is a 2 piece rod and I just hate 2 piece rods regardless how good they fish. I have already purposely sold or traded in all my 2 piece rods and will not buy anything that is not at least a 4 piece.

It just seems like the decision is being made in reverse. You want to do a certain style of fishing (how big the streamers are) and I'm thinking you probably know the waters you want to fish and how far you'll need to cast. Next, you select a line that does what you need. Is it a floating line, intermediate, or fast sinking and how many grains? Then you pick a rod weight that will do that. For me, I already have 5,6, and 7 weights. I want to throw big streamers, throw them far, an sink them 6 ips with a 30 foot tip. That is going to take my 7 weight to do right, so I will fish my 7 weight with a 250 grain line.
