Default St. Croix Upgrade Program

It seems that St. Croix has an upgrade program. I just noticed it last week.

Service & Warranty Policy

It's at the bottom.

Anyone used this?

I was considering trading in my 7'-6" 2wt Legend Ultra for a 7'-6" 3wt Avid then getting a 2wt later on.

The way I understood it you could only trade UP to a higher level rod, for example, you could trade in a Avid for a new ultra legend, but not sure if you can do it the other way around.

Sounds like a good deal but I guess I would need to try and work the swap to see how good of a deal it turns out to be. There is a huge profit margin on rods so I can see where this make be a good deal for both Company and customer.

The question becomes, "What do they do with the old rods?" I recently saw
an ebay seller that sells St. Croix rods sent in for warranty work: he replaces
the broken section, and then puts them on ebay. Would St. Croix use the
rods for warranty parts, sell them wholesale, etc?

If, and when, I call, I'll ask them. Was wondering that myself.
