For those of you into fishing and swinging wet flies for trout, this ones for you.
Traditional patterns like soft hackles, winged wets, flymphs and new fangled patterns like caddis pupae are examples.

As always new tyers are welcome in this swap, if you have any questions about what qualifies for this swap, or want some suggestions for easy to tie patterns, send me a PM.

I'm thinking a due date of Feb 15 2010.

1. Peregrines- Tup's Indispensible - DONE
2. Fish gypsy- Red Ass -RECEIVED
3. Greenwood- TBD
4. Pocono- Lead Wing Coachman_RECEIVED

Greenwood- great, glad you joined in. This should be fun. I'll send out my address after we have a few more folks and we're sure it's a go.

If Bob, the "Wet Fly Master, is going to be in on this swap, then so am I. My plan, subject to change, will be to tie up some Leadwing Coachmen, or other similar winged wet.

Feb 15th sounds very doable to me.

I'll tie something - TBD.

Can someone point me to a photo or ingredients for a "Red Ass?" If it is too similar to what I was planning, I'll pick something else.

Thanks!

Whoops. Another revision for my tie. It's the same fly. Just found the original pattern. I'm a traditionalist so I'm pleased that I found this pattern.
The "Mormon Girl" was created by Bob Carmichael, and Roy Donnely in Jackson Hole in the 1940's.

Deanna Lee Birkholm compiled the above picture.

Just finishing up my offerings. A simple Soft Hackle. Olive silk over yellow thread, with a HINT of copper ribbing.(LOL) and finished with a nice whisp of CDL for a collar.

I am in like three swaps so I thought I better get busy. I know I am way ahead, but it is one of those days that LOOKS beautiful (blue skies and a few clouds, soft breeze) but LIKE 19 DEGREES!!!!!!
I wish it would snow to warm up!

Anyway, I know we do softhackle swaps, but when you say wet flies, I can only think softhackles with of course the Royal Coachman wet, but I don't have enough duck feather for wings...LOL

I'll do a Mallard and Claret if there is room for me. It will fit in with the Salmon Fly swap as I extrapolated the Mallet from this pattern for a swap that required you to create a Spey pattern from a wet fly pattern.
Silk and Coq de leon eh Joni? I think I knew her back in '77 :p
