diver , i can't even come close to your killer crawdad.. beautiful.

my approach is a more simple pattern, something we modified some from a P. Jorgenson pattern, i believe this was what Jorgenson tied

Ring Neck Pheasant Church Window feathers for claws , the tips being burnt away in a 'V' to simulate the claw
and melted mono for eyes.

we eliminated the claws , substituted a bunch of squirrel tail and eventually
left off the melted mono eyes.

my old buddy Jay is working on a foam cut-out pattern , as soon as he receives the cutter from --- Montana Flies ---- i'll know more about the foam crawdad

all good

I was just thinking about a crayfish pattern earlier while making my "winter tying list." Count me in.

Here's the pattern I'm using... keep in mind it's only the second time tying it and I have no instructions to go by. It still needs touching up but when I've got it down pat it will look great I believe.

Excellent Yetavon, welcome aboard!

Hopefully we'll get a few more folks in this swap in the next few days and then I'll send out my address in a PM to all.

Here's a quick shot of mine. I think I'm going to add a thin skin shell on the back and some a barbell weight and call it a day.

For the upside down hook, a rotary vice would help. I don't have one.... so I just put the hook in the vice and tied very carefully. Only pricked myself a few times too.

Also, For Everyone Else In The Swap.....

The only weights that I could get of decent size are plain lead weights. I know that some places in the country don't allow lead, and some fisherman just choose not to use them.

So I'll leave it up to the swap.... do you guys want me to add the weights to my fly or just let it off? I'd hate to send out a pattern that you guys can't use.

Or if some want the weight and some don't, I'd be happy to tie for each person and then label them.
