5wt Greys GRXI+
6wt Fenwick FF806 glass
6wt Orvis Clearwater

Default Re: How Many Fly Rods Do You Own

Some of the names have changed but the tally is the same. My brother in law owns 12, so I refuse to have more than 11 or else he will accuse me of accumulating gear. Based on the list below, I apparently need professional help with my 3WT hoarding

Sage TXL-F 1WT
Sage TXL 3WT
Sage ZXL 3WT
Sage Circa 3WT
Sage ONE 3WT
Sage TXL 4WT
Allen ICON 4WT
Sage Z-Axis 4WT
Orvis Hydros 6WT
Flying Pig 7WT
Dad's Fenwick 6WT

Default Re: How Many Fly Rods Do You Own

I have about 15 fly rods! I sold a few on another fishing site, when I was having a bad day? My fave rod of all times was a 1wt Superfine with a 3100 reel ..... I sold it for a song? I don't know why?

This year I want to buy a bamboo rod, maybe a 4wt or 5wt, but a light one ..... not a crappy heavy thing?

And I want to get a "glass" rod. And a UL, maybe a 000 or a 00 Sage?

Last year I really wanted to build a couple fly rods, but I never got around to it.

Like many have already said on this site "it's a addiction"

Currently I have nine. Just sold two and bought one. Technically I've got 10, if you include the first fly rod I ever had but it's retired on the wall now and not in use.

Vintage bamboo (my father’s)

Orvis Battenkill 8.5 ft 3 pc with two extra tips, for some reason. Works with 5 or 6 wt.
Orvis 7.5 ft 2 pc, extra tip, no model name, works with 4 or 5 wt
Payne rod, great condition but don’t know much about it. 8 ft 2 pc 6 wt.
Phillipson 7 ft 2 pc, 5 wt, twin of the one mentioned above, almost mint.

I take all these out at least a couple times a year.

Miscellaneous

Mystery bamboo rod bought at garage sale in New Mexico, 9 ft, 3 pc, heavy, throws an 8 wt line. Handles like a broom stick. Caught a pike with it in the Rio Grande.
7.5 ft 2 pc fiberglass rod, works with 4 or 5 wt, manufacturer begins with “H” but I don’t have it here to look at.
LL Bean Double L bamboo rod in leather carrying case, not sure where it is, 8 foot four pc 6 wt or thereabouts
One piece bamboo spinning rod, no name, my lone piece of spinning gear. About 8 feet long.
