    Including a broken one that I fixed, and a combo fly-spin rod, I have nine: a 4, two 5s, 3 6s, a 7, an 8, and a 9.

I always seem to own one less than I think I need.

The corollary to that is what I tell my wife every time she asks me how many I need: "One more!"

I'm behind you. Seems like I'm always at least three rods short of what I need. Just can't catch up.

With the addition of the 486-4X I am up to 14...oops, for some reason the 12 reels feels more excessive.

Every rod in active use should have its own dedicated reel and line.

Added another on the weekend, Redington Trout Spey. Now up to a nice even dozen, glad some are in the closet & out of site.

    Unfortunately,
I find it difficult to find a rod I don't like. Even when they're poorly constructed or designed, I feel these waifs need a home. Sometimes a diamond is discovered, but they usually appear at my wife's annual "yard sale" the next spring and hopefully find a new home. Not very fiscally smart, but you should see what she manages to acquire at auctions and flea markets. There is no remorse because she suffers her own collecting guilt. I'll range from a low of 10 and a cut-off of 25.

Based on the shape of the package under the tree, it's about to be 11.
