Now you've done it Ronnie...then next box you get is going to have ONE hook with no eye...LOL This is exactly what happened to me. I said the exact same thing and BINGO there was old eyeless, he, he, he

Gotta go with Mustad too...I do use a number of Eagle Claw hooks though.
I tried Tiemco but they break and aren't forgiving like Mustad.

I'm feeling pretty good about the bulk Mustad purchase (I just went and inspected all the hooks I recently bought, all tips, eye's, etc.. accounted for). However, I'm sure I'll be stocking up on various brands as time goes on...

When I started tying (back in the earlie 80's) I primarily used Mustad, but in the last few years moved over to Tiemco primarily because they are so much sharper. I do find that they sometimes break while tying or bending the bard down.

For FW, mostly Mustad classics, with a few other hooks from Tiemco, like the light wire scud hook 2487 for emerger patterns, Daiichi 1120(?) for Stimis etc.

For SW mostly Mustads again with 34007 and 3407 (when I can find them) mostly, and a few others for special stuff Eagle Claw 254 (a short shank hook) and Owner Aki for tarpon and small tuna.

The Mustads have done well and they are relatively inexpensive so i've stuck with them.

I just use Bass Pro or Cabela's generic stuff but I hdo have some Tiecomo and I really like them.

I had to bring this one up again.. I went out and bought some more MUSTAD C49S Scud hooks. One box had two completely different hooks in it and this:

No big deal, two hooks, but they were REALLY stuck together. Maybe some kind of coating they put on the hooks. I finally took a razor blade and separated them, but the two odd ball hooks in that batch is weird. Still scud hooks but like a size 18.

But for the price, I keep buying them.
