Cabelas Prestige Combo
I won this little beauty at a fishing show in a 5wt. I've noticed a few things about it just in the one casting session I've had with it.
1. The rod itself seems to be pretty good in quality. It's every bit as good as anything from the clearwater, redington, and scientific angler lines. It seems to haul and double haul pretty well.
2. The line this comes with is a decent starter line. It doesn't shoot as well as the sharkskin line but it does do pretty well.
3. The reel has a chunky and awkward feeling to it. If I replace anything in the kit it will be the reel. Its just not very smooth.
4. The combo comes with a case , some accessories, and a dvd. Seemed pretty good.

All and all I think it looks promising. My other 5wt is a redington ct and I think this will definately balance out my 5wt collection nicely.

Re: Cabelas Prestige Combo
The Cabela's gear is not bad for the money, but my only issue with Cabela's is their warranty. I had a Cabela's rod in 4wt and it performed well, but my son broke the tip section lifting a small bluegill with it. I called Cabela's and they said it was one year and one month old, and the warranty was only one year.

I have spent thousands with Cabela's over the years and pointed that out to them. They refused to make any adjustment/compensation on repairing or replacing the rod. I closed my account and asked to be removed from their mailing list.
