We'll try to stay on topic.

I did actually get the pastor presiding over my wedding last summer an 8' 4wt as "payment" for his services. Does that count? jk

    Cliff,

The only Metolius I've fished is the little 7-footer I reported on. Like you, I favor the 3-piece setup ... and this one is very well done. Let me hasten to add that I am not a fan of Scott so I cannot comment on what the differences might be.

I also have found many Scott rods that I'm not big on, but the one's I like I really like. The split is probably about 50/50. Most of the one's I haven't liked are either too stiff in the tip and then softer in the middle, or hard not to throw a tailing loop with. I love the HP's, G's, and the original Eclipse's though.

Doug, good info. I purchased a Metolius 5 wt for fishing the White and Norfork Rivers in Arkansas. I fished 3 of my 5 days with this fine rod. I really like it. It slings out line great even in some windy conditions - and it was windy! It handled a nice 2 1/2 lb brown on it really well and protected the tippet well. I would say this is a medium to fast rod but whatever it is it is very light, sensitive, and balanced. I hope to get a 6 or 7 wt if I get to go to Montana next year. I would highly recommend this rod. I also fished with my Winston Vapor and was very pleased with it also.
If more Dads would read God's Word to their kids, live it, and teach their kids to fish and hunt we might see this Country turn around from the sewer it is headed to!

Thumbs up Re: G.Loomis StreamDance Metolius - By Doug Macnair

    Re: Loomis Metolius .
It is quite awhile since the last post on this subject but here goes:

Recently bought a Metolius and agree with all you said in your review. Was
especially impressed with the quality of the entire package. Had been looking for a 4pc, 8.5 ft 4wt and might have found just what I was looking for.
This one is a HLS and while I don't know for sure, it looks & feels very much like a Loomis IMX, still one of my favorites in lighter line weights.
Any opinions about this will be appreciated.
After using yours for a few years do you have any additional comments about the rod?
    Thanks again for your review.

I also recently purchased a Metolius-- 9 ft. HLS 4 weight for a really good price online. Love the rod and wish Loomis still offered it in their lineup, but I have read that there wasn't enough separation between it and its big brother, the GLX.

Interesting. Glad you were able to get the 9'/4.

Re: Metolius-GLX, You might be right about that. Hope you continue to enjoy the rod.

Do you know what your Metolius weighs?

MY 8.5'/4wt Metolius comes in at 3.2oz and 9ft/ 4wt GLX SD at 3.ooz.
