Here's the biggest problem, for me anyway. No viewfinder. And I don't know about a lot of you, but on the water it get's damn bright and most LCD's on p&s cameras really suck for older eyes in the bright sun. You can't see what you're shooting, and just guessing a lot of the time.
How is the LCD display on the Nikon and Panny?

The LCD on my Pana is VERY bright. I have no issues seeing it in the direct sunlight with sunglasses on. The Nikon seems to have a nice bright screen as well from the ones I have played around with.

I love mine. I've carried it on the rivers and in the marshes while redfishing. So far no problems. It even got dropped by my son from a 4 foot bar on to the tile. No problems thus far. The best thing I like about it is it's lightweight and barely noticeable when in my shirt pocket. The other Olympus cameras were heavy even while small. I've taken mine to art museums as well with good results. Yes the price is a bit steep but the waterproofness and shock resistance is just awesome.

I plan to buy a new waterproof camera on holiday sales and AW100 is one of my choice. Now Olympus released new TG-1, it's higher price but it seems to have more functions that AW100. I found top rank waterproof cameras from The Good Gears - Guides & Reviews.

I use an 'older' Olympus Stylus Tough and quite pleased with the resulting photos.
