I'm fairly confident in my casting abilities, but compared to a couple of the guys I know that will be there.....I think I'll sit this one out and just enjoy the show. But hey, ya never know.

At the last sports show that I was at, some of us (shop guys, guides, reps, lodge owners) decided to have our own casting contest. We decided to make it interesting. We did a distance competition using a 7 foot Hardy fiberglass 3 weight. One of the local guides casted somewhere over 70 feet. Most of us schmucks were in the low 60s.

The next night we wanted to have a short range accuracy contest by casting a tuft of yarn into a cup at 20 feet. The kicker was that we had to use a 14 weight. Unfortunately the casting pond was being used for a kids casting program.

These contests are different from the normal routine, so they just had to be done. Feel free to try that contest. It's different, so give it a try.

In our time spent on the water Dave you've told me many things (some I really wish you wouldn't have ), no, you have never mentioned being a "Barker", but for some silly reason it really doesn't surprise me.

I'm glad to see that someone adding to the format rather than just the ol' "let's see how far I can cast" stuff.

I may try it. I'll need to scrounge up some coin for the entry fee and the membership.
