Default Bandolero

Has anyone tried one of those bandolero style fly fishing chest packs? You know, the over-the-shoulder type. I'm considering one but hope to get some input first.

TB, there's a guy on eBay known as Swordfish. He's been advertising a William Joseph line of those items. There's about five or six different styles for fly fishing. You might want to check into it. I've seen him on the fly tying materials section, and if you need his site address let me know. He has these on just about all the time. I've bought some Whiting hackle from him, and know some others who've bought vises, etc. I'm not sure how you copy and paste one of those long url addresses in this forum yet, but I'll try to figure it out.

Hello TB

Loon Outdoors makes two nice looking over the shoulder style fly packs. $19.95 and $21.95. They seem like a sensible system. I'm thinking about getting one for myself. I have not tried one yet so I can't give you much more input than that. You can take a look at them at http://www.thefullcreel.com/files/index.php?id=235

Hope this helps.

Steve

tb, i considered getting one, but went with a more conventional type pack for two reasons i decided against it. One of these will be pertinent to you, the other might not.

I like the ieda of easy access to the rear of such a pack by spinning it around your body, but realized that your front pockets are exactly upside down when you do this. I could picture myself doing that and dumping all sorts of stuff out of the front pocket. With the chest pack I got, you can unclip the side buckles and spin it around without turning any of it upside down.

I also wanted a high-riding chest pack for float tubing. My TU Kennebec tube has a back support on the seat, but it doesn't come up very high. This allows me to use the chest pack.
