Default sizes

I am fairly new to fly fishing. I fish in S Ga. for pan fish. I have a Cortland 9ft 5/6 wt rod with reel.I bought the correct line for this. My question is what leader, tippet, and fly sizes do I need. I do not want this to be complicated. I understand about the different flies, water, lines, etc. The above line mentioned is w f floating rocket 6 wt. Please put me in the right direction.

Thanks,
Scott Weathersby

Get any 9' tapered leader in 4x anything lighter is not needed. 4x tippet and you have all the panfish you can handle....

No need to change the fly line at this time. For the future an ideal fly rod for panfish would for me be a 3wt or a 4wt.

A bit further down the main page, check out the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ). There's different pages with info on gear, casting, techniques, flies, and the forum
Lotta good information

I use a 6wt for pan fish... (mostly because I have a bunch of them and I need to justify that ) but you never know when something large will show up. It's always good to be prepared
