Thread: HIGH WATER - NEED TO FISH !

  1. Default HIGH WATER - NEED TO FISH !

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE HAVING A HARD TIME NOT BEING ABLE TO GO AND FISH, DUE TO THE HIGH WATER HERE ON THE WHITE RIVER.

CHECK OUT ROCKBRIDGE--A PRIVATE FISHERY IN MO.
THEY HAVE ACCESS FOR CATCH AND RELEASE FISHING.

BOTH I AND DAVE WHITLOCK USE THIS FACILITY FOR CLIENTS. IT IS A SPRING CREEK, CLEAR, CLEAN WATER AND IT HOLDS SOME VERY NICE FISH. NO BROWNS, BOWS ONLY.

DAILY RATE IS PER PERSON, $65.00. THERE IS ALSO A GOOD RESTAURANT AFTER THE DAYS FISHING.

IT IS APP 45 MINS DRIVE FROM THE MT HOME AREA.

Davy, I'm assuming Tablerock at Branson and Lake Taneycomo are experiencing the same discharge, is that correct?

  3. Default high water

YES, VERY LIKELY SO. THAT WAS THE CASE THIS PAST WEEK.
THE WHITE RIVER OF COURSE RUNS VIA A CHAIN OF DAM SYSTEMS. THEY WILL AT TIMES HOLD WATER BACK FROM ONE STAGE TO THE OTHER, DEPENDING ON THE FLOOD POOLS IN THE LAKES.

HIGH WATER DOES NOT ELIMINATE FISHING ON THE RIVER. BUT YOU NEED A BOAT AND I WOULD SUGGEST YOU DO NOT GO FOR THAT OPTION UNLESS YOU ARE WELL VERSED IN DEALING WITH A FAST MOVING RIVER LIKE THIS. YOU CERTAINLY DO NOT WANT TO DO SO AS A SINGLE PERSON. YOU CANNOT FISH AND DEAL WITH THE BOAT AT THE SAME TIME, AND TO ANCHOR IS NOT A GOOD OPTION, UNLESS YOU KNOW THE RIVER BED LIKE THE BACK OF YOUR HAND. HIGH WATER CAN CAUSE BIG CHUNKS OF TIMBER TO WASH OFF SHORLINES AND CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS IF YOU DO NOT SEE THEM, AND THEY GET UNDER THE BOAT WHICH CAN TURN YOU OUT OF IT. WORSE THE DOWNSTRAM DRIFT RAMS YOU INTO STRUCTURE ALONG THE SHORE LINE.

Thanks for the link on Rockbridge Davy. If it is only 45 min. from Mt. Home then I can easily make it up there in a day from Tyler, TX. The link came up on a computer systems consultants website, with no info about fishing, Is there another link??

Two of my guests in fact fished there Tuesday and had a great day, beats dealing with all the high flow here on the White, and they likely caught many more fish for the day too. Plenty of great wade fishing. Like l said l use this resource also for clients on booked schools or guide trip activity.
