It seems, I've got at least one of each kind made! I like each one for different reasons, but if I had to choose one, it would be the double sided clear lid waterproof style like these...

clear lid

I have that double sided clear lid and it leaked. I think I have bad luck with "waterproof" flyboxes. I also have the SA biggest box they make and it leaks too. I'm always in water almost to my chest and over waste deep and the boxes are always getting some water in them. The search continues.

I have one C&F box, it's a large nymph box; slit foam on one side and compartments on the other. I do like it though it's big.

I need to get some new boxes, I've been considering a couple of the UPG models; I like the looks of the "Day Tripper" and the Midge styles.

Whatever brand, they have to be slit foam, one side of compartments is optional. Sorry Wheatley...no clips! I'm about function, style and/or prestige.

I got into the Umpqua UPG boxes last year; the large for Atlantic salmon flies & the 'double-wide' for saltwater patterns. They're a little spendy but worth it, IMHO

Here are the two sides of the saltwater ('double-wide') box:
