Fly rod lures. What was old is now new again.

Most fishers that use this around here, fish with a spinning rod, bubble and one of these.

I've used these for several years now in N New Mexico. I remember asking around what was working and I would always get the answer, "Pistol Petes." I didn't have a clue what they were until one old guy showed me one. Heck, they're nothing but a wooly bugger with a prop in front. They don't cast real well, like said, most people use a spinning rod with a bubble. One fellow I talked to was casting his out and letting it sink to bottom, very little action, and the trout would pick it up an run. I got mine from a place in Lawrence, Ks(Jayhawks) so no, the OSU cowboys didn't invent them! Luck, Glen

Not all the fly shops in the E Sierra carry them, but ALL of the tackle shops do...deadly with a bubble. There are more than a few older fly guys towing them in still waters behind a tube.
