Default What are some good fly fishing books/novels?

Just curious other that the obvious "A river Runs Through It" if there are other good books on fly fishing travel, etc. Fiction or non-fiction would be great. thanks for any suggestions.

Lefty Kreh's "Fly Rod Trouting" is a good read. It's half stories and half information and it's very nicely written.

I recommend it highly. The author is a great guy, he'll even read to his fans if you feed him some beers-

I'd rather hunt fish than bait deer any day.

Chris: I agree that is a great book, but I have to give credit to BigCliff who pointed it out to me.

Another great book is "Wisdom of the Guides" by Paul Arnold. I cna't remember for sure, but I think it was BigCliff who pointed that one out also.

John Barr's "Barr Flies" and Pat Dorsey's "Fly Fishing Tailwaters" are also verry good books and my favorite fly tying book is Charlie Craven's "Basic Fly Tying".

My favorites are Daves Ames' book by a long shot. I would be happy to list more in a bit. I love fly fishing books of all varieties.

I like John Gierach's books/essays, but they can begin to blur together. How much can one man write about fly fishing in Colorado?

The first fly fishing book I read was Charles Ritz's "A Fly Fisherman's Life", some 30 years ago. It made enough of an impression on me that I actually went out and bought a fly rod and reel, and I'd love to get another copy.
