Default there's a wrapped tube-shaped gift underneath the christmas tree...

    it's about 30" long.... maybe 2.5" diameter.....

i wonder what it could be....

maybe a movie poster?.... "a river runs through it"?...... maybe not....

    a life-time supply of super-long bungee cords?.....

    hmmmmm..........

Haha, you lucky dog! Unless its a trap, in which case it would catch most fly fishermen... Good luck! If your significant other used one of your rod tubes to wrap some smaller gift as a trick, that is just plain diabolical.

i'm with AJ here, cautious optimism is the best approach, that way you are either 'surprised' or "surprised" depending on the contents

Well now you know it's there, it could have been stashed behind the desk like Ralphie's Red Ryder 200 shot Blued Steel Air Rifle was My guess would be that you left as many hints as the little boy in the Christmas Story did........................

Such a tube may indeed have a sock inside, hopefully holding several sections of a fishing implement

    thanks for the comments folks....

i've been talking about a bamboo rod for a long while now...... i don't know if it is one or not.... IF it is, and the tube is about 30"...then let's say it's a 3 piece rod x 30"....

    ......*drum roll*........

it could be a 7'6" 3wt winston bamboo rod!

i'm dizzy just thinking about it.......
