I was going to bore everyone with a dissertation on my fishing spots by altitude throughout the year, then I fortunately re-read the question.
Between July and October, fishing below 7000 ft here in AZ is, well, uncomfortable is probably a slight understatement. So, I head for lakes and streams above 8000 ft. (White Mountains Apache Reservation) and as far away from pavement as possible. This allows me to fish without risking spontaneous human combustion. Scientific research has determined that this would be messy, and I would probably get a citation for littering.
Peace.
