Thread: Lost My Mojo

    Default Lost My Mojo

Only been fly fishing 3 times since late November (new job & high water) and somehow along the way I have lost my intensity. Every cast was meant to be better than the last and even a dink was not to be lost due to poor technique. Couldn't wait to get home and tie new flys and streamers. Now I am only tying when forced into it and could care less if a dink gets off. A bad cast...oh well, it happens.

Does anyone else on here go thru these phases??? I will be glad when this passes as I am now fishing like a slob.

PS: If anyone asks if I feel bloated or crampy I will hunt you down and hang you by your thumbs.

I was going fly fishing until my wife suggested it, now I can't tell who is outsmarting who!

Being "one with nature" requires a knowledge of what animals are living nearby and a weapon of sufficient magnitude to give you at minimum an equal chance of survival. No one has an invisible aura that animals can detect and sense your good intentions.

I think we all go thru spells when we lose our gusto. Be warned, though it will probably come back, it will most likely not be the same desire as you had before. I'm not saying this is bad either, you may be just headed in a slightly different direction than you were before.
just my dollar and a quarters worth (formerly 2 cents.. that's inflation for ya)

    Sorry, couldnt resist.

On a serious note, it will come back. Get back ti another hobby in the mean time. Once summer rolls around i am willing to bet you will be itching to toss a fly or two.

Happens to me every winter. Right about now is when I get the itch again. The thing that irks me is that for about the first three trips, I have terrible casting techniques from sitting in the house all winter. Barely making it past 35 feet, wind knots, obscene tangles, you name it, it happens. After I get through my "phase" and get back into the groove, it's like I never stopped and it only gets better. So yeah, it will definitely come back to you pretty quick. Oh, and don't force yourself to do it like I did, you can get burnt out and then it's not fun.

Wait until Spring arrives; it will come back.

Also, there's nothing wrong with a little "vacation" from intensity. It's a good reality check; sort of puts you in touch with what's really important to you in any sport/activity/situation.

And if you really need a new voodoo charm bag, then I understand that they're still available just West of you in New Orleans! A trip there is a good remedy for most things................

Come on Dave, find your groove!
