Thanks a lot Chuck. Glad you enjoy it.

tbblom, good job catching that Carp! It's a Mirror Carp and a beautiful one at that.
The take is the premier moment.

    mr.p,
your videos really helped, especially the one about 'the take'.
Didn't feel the take at all, but saw that telltale body language of the take and set the hook.
Its gonna be tough deciding between carp and trout this summer!

The Mirror Carp is a rarer occurance and is a variation of the Common Carp and that is a nice one as Mr P says. Plus that is a nice sized fish for sure! Good picture! The other variation is called a Leather Carp with little to no scales, or a sparcely scaled Mirror but again just a variation of the Common Carp. Body language and that flash of their mouth of whiteish yellow that occurs when the suck something in are the only things that save us in murkier or deeper water.

Thanks, it pleases me to know that the videos helped you. I was working on Episode #4 and had to put it aside. Right now I'm working on a Carp on the fly video presentation for the Washington Federation of Fly Fishers Fair in May and the FFF International Conclave in July.

Great job visually detecting that take. The take, the take; there's nothing like it. Again, good for you that you detected it.

I have learned a few things about Carp fishing these past many years but I don't pretend to able to give advice about what you would enjoy fishing for this summer. Heck, do both, fish for Trout and fish for Carp. I do have one quick question. Are the Trout you catch as big as that Carp? Just askin'...

good point! My first carp was bigger than any trout I have caught. And I know where some 40+ inchers live...

Looking forward to video #4 mr. p

    NICE MIRROR!
Funny, I went to my Carp spot yesterday but water pretty murky so couldn't see them. I cast out an Olive and red streamer and started slow stripping and pull like I usually do. Bamb, something hit.

I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW LM were in there!

I also managed a LARGE Common Carp but broke off while I was trying to lip it. Managed this Mirror for a shot though

From the looks of that largemouths fins must have been a rough winter . Cool looking mirror.
