Default Re: Dilemma - New vise or new stick

looks like the vise is the way to go. The guy building the rod wants to do it his way with no customizations, which is fine, but just not for me. I'm gonna wait for the next set of blanks he has in stock and get a custom how i'd like it.

Cottarelli here i come!

Cool fly rods come and go, but 20 years from now you will still be loving that vise.

Why not buy the blank and build the rod yourself. You would have a keepsake to get you outside, and think of the reward for the sacrifice school requires. (plus, building the rod will give you another winter hobby...)

GREAT IDEA. And i thought of it, but all i need right now is another hobby to take up my time - tying takes up my fishing time, and my baby takes up my tying time....see here i'm going here. rod building would be the beginning of some nasty divorce procedings i suspect, not only that,i wouldnt wanna start a rod bulding project on a nice white canvas - oh wait, isn't that how projects are supposed to start...My bad i wouldnt wanna screw up the blank!
