My gal captured this mayfly (spinner?) with a #12 stimmie. I think it is a great photo.
Any of you Entomologists care to tack an ID on this? I am still working on English, but I guess a Latin lesson couldn't hurt.

If the Stimulator is a #12, that is not a Hex, Larry. At least not the one's that I am familiar with in Michigan. They are size #6 flies; just huge mayflies. Think salmonfly with a slender body and upright wings.

I would generically call that bug a Mahogany Dun.

Yup, I agree. If that stimulator is tied on a 200R which it looks like that is a 3xl #12. So to me, the mayfly is about a standard 12 or 14.

Do you see it differently?
