Redington CPX 8wt SWITCH ROD with redingtion 7/8 rise ii reel, skagit or switch line?

i mostly fish for salmon and steelhead in the st marys river which is a border of USA and CANADA. i just picked up a redington cpx switch rod 11'3 8wt, with a redington rise ii 7/8wt reel. Theres a big debate for the type of line to use... ive been looking at skagit short line, or just regular switch line? can anyone give me any insight on what they think ???

Skagit Short lines were designed for use with switch rods.

I'm not a big fan of the switch lines. They don't cast Spey style well when throwing tips and heavier flies.

The general rule for head and tip length is that the combined length is 2.5 to 3 times the rod length. A Skagit Short head (20 ft) and a tip (10 feet) is 30 feet. That is well within the norm.

another question... people are sayin to use a 9/10 reel with a 8wt rod..i know redington rise ii reel has a large arbour but will this combo fit?

Go with the 9/10 reel. Spey heads take up a lot of room.
