I've been wondering just how small these eyelets are that won't take a 4X or 5X tippet.

I took a bunch of the smallest flies I could find and measured the eyelets. They range from 0.009" to 0.013". That's 2X and larger.

I did find that some of them have bits of glue in the eyelets. When I poked that out with a needle, they were in the range I mentioned.

Has anyone else measured the eyelets?

Haven't measured them, but when I tie small stuff I like the Orvis big-eye hooks.
