Default Thinned out my herd.

I have sold all but 3 rods and some were only weeks old. Go to rod is a Winston WT 7ft 3wt--next is a Winston BllT 8ft 4wt--and my other is a Sweetgrass 5ft 8in 2wt hex boo that is a blast on small fish. Reels are Hardy flyweight and Ross Evolution LT. I can fish just about anywhere with these rods, for what i fish for and love it. Bases covered no purchases in near future, just fish fish fish, tying flies and less choices.

I too have a "purge" every other year or so, or when I'm broke!

I have never thinned the herd. In fact I need a bigger ranch.

I don't thin neither.

Never know when you might need that particular rod or reel, for that particular fish, or stream, river, creek, lake, bay, .....:

...or pond, or ditch, or water feature...

I don't thin either...always thought of the sport as a hoarding intensive sport!

Default Re: Thinned out my herd.

I sold my bass rods for a pair of Simms Guide 3 waders. Didn't consider it to be a thinning of the herd, more like selling the goats to buy cattle.

Like Dan I've never thinned out either as there's still plenty of room to store them.
I don't have too many Rods, however I know I have too many Reels.

Default Re: Thinned out my herd.

I've learned not to thin the herd, all these items I've sold for peanuts and find I could use them occasionally to avoid future purchases

Lamson Velocty Hard Alox
Ross Rhythm
Sage Launch 386-4
St. Croix Avid 379-4
Legend Ultra 590-4

Only thing I've sold I don't regret is a 1WT TFO that I couldn't cast to save my life.

Not being arrogant but the $700 or so I got for all that gear did nothing for me but let me buy a pistol without the wife being angry.
