Thread: Flat Flies & A Very Merry Christmas!

Default Flat Flies & A Very Merry Christmas!

I hope everyone had a very merry Christmas and a safe and happy new year! Hopefully everyone has incredible 2013! I'm hoping to hit the 100 fish mark this year - I need to step up my game!

Santa Claus was very good to me and brought me a beautiful TFO Finesse 3 wt for some of the small wild streams around me. I can't wait to get her out on the water!

My uncle also got me an antique felt fly book, and it even had a few flies left in it!

I'm trying to figure out what to do with the flies, I'd like to put them up on display some how, maybe in a cigar box I have or something. Right now they're obviously quite flat being in the book for who knows how long. Anyone have any suggestions on how to give 'em some more life? I'd hate to be displaying 2 dimensional flies!

Also if anyone recognizes any of the patterns I'd be especially grateful! I don't have a clue about any of them!

You could try steaming the flies and see if they pop back up. But for dislay they might be better flat. It's hard to put them in 3-D in a frame.
