Thread: good deal or not?

  1. #1

    Default good deal or not?

Found a new wetly infinit1 on sale for $100. Is this a good deal or not? I'm not really familiar with Wetfly. How good of a company are they? I will be using this mainly for bass and secondarily for redfish. How good is the drag? is it sealed for the salt water? thanks for the help.

I know nothing of it... I assume it is a reel...LOL

A quick search turns very little up (although their website looks alright) , this being said, unless you are compelled by some phenomenal desire to have this particular item, I'd pass.

Why, you ask? There are many super quality reels to be had for that kind of skin. Go with a company that you know will stand by their product should you have questions/ problems.

EDIT// of course, I am a big fan of Allen, and my same logic could be applied to them-- relatively small fry in a big fish industry..... so, what do I know? lol

If I may suggest, look into a Okuma Cedros Salt reel. Around $155.00. Though I never owned one of these, all the Okuma reels I have serve me very well.

Second on the Allen ATS reel. I buy everything from Allen that I can now. If I need a new piece of gear, and Allen sells one in the specifications I want, that's probably the one I buy.

You just cant beat their price, quality, and especially service. If you have an desire for a new rod as well, the Allen weakly deal is a Xa rod (3, 4, or 5wt) and a Trout II reel for $269. The rod is $229 separately and the reel is $139 separately so you are getting a hell of a deal.

Everyone has thier own opinion about reels. I would recommend a Colton Torrent if you are looking for a good drag and a quality frame. In the end you must make your own decision and consider the price verses quality. You can spend $2000 if you want or you can spend $30. Your requirements and wallet will dictated what you end up buying.

Or you could invest the $100, and buy a $150 reel in 20 years.
