Default advice: replacing line

Hi
What line should I use on three forks 4wt 8' /prestige 2 Combo?
I fish small trout streams and sometimes use poppers on small ponds for bluegill.
thanks

You really don't need to go crazy over a specific taper. Just get a Scientific Anglers Mastery Headstart, and call it done.

With a stiff moderate fast action rod you could probably throw a 5 wt line quite easily.

Head Start is a 1/2 line weight overlined. There isn't any reason to overline by a full size.

You might also consider a DT line. Except for real long casts I doubt that you will be able to tell any difference with a WF line. I have a DT on my 2wt for small warmwater creeks and it works great.

I would like the Rio Gold on that rod but some would prefer the Rio Grand since it's a faster rod.
