Anyone ever try this… ‘Macedonian gorget’ (knapped shell and a tuft of wool) or knife-shaved stick, bootlaces (or similar) and an impromptu fly?

Whoa,

I confess to being a bit of old school traditionalist but they had vinyl coated lines by Gladding and nylon mono when I got into this.

Well I have caught a bluegill with some mardi gras beads, an elastic, a paper clip, and cheese.

The mardi gras beads were the line. But yes I probably could have just dipped the paper clip in with my fingers. Bream are like piranhas around here. I have to try harder NOT to catch them.
