    Hi
    Its been a long time since I last posted here. Forget my password and time just passed.
    Still a fishing maniac, have a blog in spanish about flyfishing here in Colombia were I write about our species and what flyfishing is about.
    So here is an article I wrote about payara on The fly wish I translated for You guys, because such incredible fish has to be shown everywhere.

    Hi Armando,

    Wow!

    I guess you do not wade for them; look like giant piranha. Rivers look good, all except for the Payara.

    Maybe no worse than our pike which are fresh water barracuda.

    Hi Hardyreels

    There is no problem wading for them, they wont mess with you, if someone gets bitten thats because they made some mistakes while unhooking them. You really have to watch out.
    Some rivers are better to fish from the boat, not too safe to wade them, strong currents, stingrays, anacondas, alligators etc.. are things you have to keep an eye on.

    I think they are also called Vampire Fish or something like that. Jeremy Wade caught a few on River Monsters.
