Default under wader wear

Looking for some suggestions/recommendations for lightweight pants or liners to wear under waders. Looking for something that wicks well and dries quickly.

The best I've used hands down is Patagonia's Capilene. Cap 2(lightweight) for warmer weather, Cap 3 (midweight) for cooler weather. You can wear both at the same time in cold weather. I'm talking in the 30's.

That stuff isn't cheap but I always look for it and find it on sale. Lots of other good options as well but those are my favorites and what I have the most experience with.

Any good quality synthetic underwear (polypro) will work. I wear Helly Hansen heavy weight and Cabela's ECWS. If it's really cold I'll wear both. I know some people like merino wool as well. As you've noted, you need something hydrophobic that will wick away moisture.

Merino wool in the winter, synthetic thong in the summer. My lucky one is lime green.

My home waters here in southeast Idaho are always cold. We generally wear polypro long bottoms, like UnderArmor, then a pair of polar fleece pants over them. This combination is comfortable under waders, and will not hold moisture. If you run the risk of getting wet, avoid cotton, especially in the fall and winter.

I REALLY hope nobody chimes in with the "useless without pictures" comment.

You guys are way more prepared than I am. I mostly just wear jeans when it is mildly warm, if it is hot I wear those light weight nylon style fishing pants, or just switch to wet wading with the neoprene wading socks, when it is really cold, I again wear jeans but switch to my 5 mm neoprene waders for dealing with COLD water.

I did not know that Patagonia and Vicky's Secret had a collaboration.

When it's warm, I usually wear sweat pants, just so the waders aren't against my skin. If it's really warm, I wade wet. When it's cold-poly pro from head to toe under everything and layers of fleece over the poly, then wind/waterproof over that as needed. I like layers 'cause I almost always over dress and end up shucking a layer or two.
