Thread: Bad experience

  1. #1

    Default Bad experience

Just wanted everyone to know to NOT do business with steelheadstuff.com. Enough time has elapsed since I placed the order that I should have received the order. Emails as well as phone calls have not been answered. Phone calls go to voicemail where the mailbox is full. If there is a positive resolution I will let everyone know, till then I WOULD NOT do business with them.

Giving this post a bump because I want as many people to see this as possible. Tried calling again today, nothing.

    HI Chris,

I just sent a reply to you but I guess things haven't changed. I'm sorry to hear this and think it's good to let others know you are having troubles with this outfit.

By the description you gave me regarding the transaction you did everything you could from your end of the deal to find out what was happening.

Sounds like a raw deal. Did you use pay pal where a dispute can be generated?

I feel your pain. My last two purchases from Board members (here and SpeyPages) have gone south. Out close to $600.00; odd part is I've done a ton of transactions over the years and never had a 'miss.' Even 'stuff' coming from the UK or Western Europe.

I've already contacted my credit card company. I would like to add I ordered from madriveroutfitters.com and my order is already on the way. I liked steelheadstuff.com selection of float master indicators but not their service which is none.

I've been reading more and more about this type of stuff recently. That's sad and disappointing. In the flyfishing community this never happened before. Now I read about it all the time.

I wish we had a rating page where we could leave buyer and seller feedback. I've been a member of some cigar boards over the years and we always had ways to provide feedback on buyers and sellers.

    Cheers,
    Mike.

What I have learned being $1,500 in the hole from 20-30year old odd car parts web deals gone bad:

References are only good if you actually know the person supplying the reference.

I won't purchase something I cant handle and pay for in cash in person, unless I am willing to throw the money away.
I'm currently out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message, and if you would like to reach me by phone, please hang up now.

Fred: Sorry to hear about this, but this kind of thing is exactly why Ard and I decided to make some changes on the forum and bumped the ability to sell items here to 100 posts. That isn't fool proof, but at least it gets rid of the folks that just sign up to make a quick sale and leave.
Also I would recommend anyone buying something online is to pay through PayPal, yes there is a small fee, but at least if the sale goes south you can go back to PayPal and contest the purchase, if you send someone cash or a check you have a difficult time recouping your funds.

    Thumbs down Re: Bad experience

Hear you Larry ( Ard's a good head and got his PM). But if you've ever worked with PayPal on a 'dispute' (only once and I tossed up my hands) you're toast. Not the Seller's error, MINE! Capital Credit card computer folks did a said 'Say what???'

If you want Jollies, try to get a phone number to talk to a real live person at PayPal. I can pull out my cell phone and talk to my Bank, Capital One, who the hell ever..... PayPal?

    Lots of frickin' luck.

Ard, got your PM and physically exhausted at the moment. Been a less than wonderful week. Will respond tomorrow. Thank God for spell checkers after trying/reading/type the above.
